Eligibility Criteria

Class 11 & 12. Must be an Indian citizen born after July 1, 2007 (for 2026 cycle).

Marking Scheme & Format

Total Marks: 216. 60 Questions. 48 Single Correct (+3, -1), 12 Multiple Correct (+6, 0).

Excluded Topics / Out of Scope

University level clinical pathology and advanced surgical anatomy.

Unit 1: Cell Biology & Biochemistry

  • Cell organelle structure and membrane transport mechanisms
  • Biomolecules: Proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids
  • Enzyme kinetics, competitive & non-competitive inhibition
  • Bioenergetics: Glycolysis, Krebs cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, photosynthesis light/dark reactions

Unit 2: Genetics & Molecular Biology

  • Mendelian inheritance, linkage mapping, sex-linked traits
  • DNA replication mechanisms, transcription, RNA processing, translation
  • Gene regulation (lac operon), recombinant DNA technology, PCR

Unit 3: Plant & Animal Physiology

2 Key Subtopics
  • Human physiology: Nervous system action potential, endocrine feedback, cardiovascular dynamics
  • Plant physiology: Translocation, mineral nutrition, auxin & cytokinin signaling

Unit 4: Ecology & Evolution

2 Key Subtopics
  • Population dynamics, Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, natural selection
  • Ecosystem trophic levels, biogeochemical cycles, biodiversity conservation
