Eligibility Criteria
Class 11 & 12. Must be born after July 1, 2007 (for 2026 cycle).
Marking Scheme & Format
Total Marks: 216. 60 Questions. 48 Single Correct (+3, -1), 12 Multiple Correct (+6, 0).
Excluded Topics / Out of Scope
General relativity tensor calculus and high-energy quantum cosmology.

Unit 1: Celestial Mechanics & Gravitation
2 Key Subtopics- Kepler's laws of planetary motion, orbital velocity, escape speed
- Gravitational potential energy, binary star dynamics, center of mass orbits
Unit 2: Astrophysics & Solar Physics
2 Key Subtopics- Stellar evolution, Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram, stellar magnitudes
- Blackbody radiation laws, Wien's law, Stefan-Boltzmann law, solar irradiance
Unit 3: Spherical Trigonometry & Coordinate Systems
2 Key Subtopics- Equatorial and alt-azimuth celestial coordinate systems
- Sidereal time, hour angle, spherical law of sines and cosines applications
Unit 4: Optics & Instrumentation
2 Key Subtopics- Refracting & reflecting telescopes, magnifying power, resolving power
- Spectroscopy, astronomical Doppler effect, redshift & blueshift calculations
